Highway 12 and Bonner Bridge Repair Work for Next 3 Weeks

Work on Highway 12 and Bonner Bridge will be taking place for the next 3 weeks. Repairs are needed for damage caused by Hurricane Arthur on July 3-4, 2014. The NCDOT will be making repairs to the part of the highway that buckled at the Pea Island area of Hatteras Island. The Bonner Bridge will also be undergoing repairs which will effect traffic. One lane will be closed during the daylight hours between Monday and Thursday while testing is being done on the bridge. Other work to be done are to clean up piles of marsh grass washed up during the hurricane and rebuilding of dunes on the side of Highway 12 on Ocracoke Island.
