Cape Point Access Tricky

With all the rain, waves and northwest winds at the North Carolina coast this past week, getting to Cape Point and back out has been tricky lately. If you don’t  pay attention to when high tide is you just might get an extended stay out on Cape Point! The ORV route to the Point can be impassable at high tide. Using the ORV route behind the dunes doesn’t help either because of the erosion that has occurred from the recent low pressure system. The National Park service even closed off access to Cape Point for a short time because of the problems. Know before you go or you might get stuck out there ant the NPS would not be happy with you!
